'Alive' Music Video - Authentic Learning Event
The music video featured above was created by the students of Mr. Steve Revington's grade four class in 2016. All aspects of the video were created by the stduents and editing was provided by grade eleven students in the media arts program at Oakridge HS in London, ON The music is by Australia's 'Empire of the Sun'. This video is not for a public audience but for the education of implementing authentic learning and the the immediate friends and families of those involved.
From conception to completion, this music video was created by grade four students at Emily Carr P.S. in London, ON, Canada. The students selected the music, strategically timed the original video, choreographed the creative movements, studied camera angles, planned social media marketing, designed their own costumes (with teacher & parent support), wrote scripts, learned lighting and green screen technique, created storyboards, applied geometry angle knowledge to camera angles, completed film location coordinate tasks, acted, adhered to schedules, created props and artwork and developed team-based skills.

Jan. 18 - Jan. 22 - Getting Started (The concept, lyrics, brainstorming, dance/creative movement, student sharing, costume ideas) - Hand out Image Release Forms.
Jan. 25 - Jan. 29 - Watch and Learn: Study Empire of the Sun 'Alive' video for costume ideas, time sequences, scenes and catagorize camera angles (tight, medium, long), start designing & making costumes.
Jan. 30 - Feb. 5 - Costumes to be completed for social media advertisements and initial green screen filming begins. Field trip forms handed out
Feb. 8 - Feb. 12 - Outdoor Test Filming: Outdoor filming of video to be completed. (weather permitting)
Feb. 18 - Main Outdoor Filming Day. Field trip forms required.
Feb. 19 - Green Screen Scenes Filming Day - video any students that did not get filmed in previous segments.
Feb 22 to 24 - Film Shooting: Complete all final video shots, include any additions
Feb. 25 - Meet Media Arts Oakridge Students (editing) with Laura Brisco and share ideas and timeline.
Feb. 26 - Email Student Editing Wish List & Special Effects Ideas - to Oakridge HS media Dept.
Feb. 27 - Video Transfers begin - editing begins - send home Oakademy Awards Premiere Night Parent Invitation and Info. Letters.
Mar. 1 to May 10 - Editing - Oakridge students to Edit music video
May 19 at Oakridge High School
Premiere launch includes red carpet, photo opportunities, popcorn and the big music video launch.
