The Egg Drop Project is an excellent authentic learning event. Below you will find the pages that junior students completed and filed into their portfolios. By providing the primary students with a variety of age appropriate activities (songs, crafts, word searches, egg facts) their participation as audience members became enhanced. Intermediate students viewed the capsules prior to the drop at the "Eggsibition Hall", completing probability sheets on the predicted outcome of the egg capsules. Teachers have taken these teaching moments and have expanded their lessons using the data collected. Charts, probability analysis, cause and effect, correlation between capsule drop times, flight patterns and egg survival are excellent ways to bring relevant learning into the class.

The work sheet list below is an example of a typical Egg Drop Project portfolio. Work sheets themes and skills change as to the student, class and school focuses so omissions and additions to this list are expected. I use the Smart-board (interactive white board) quite regularly as it provides excellent illustrations, videos and co-creative opportunities for students to grasp each concept discussed. Every lesson is supported by a Smart-board presentation which includes numerous picture examples, diagrams and interactive games. As well, a calendar displaying all important dates and stages of The Egg Drop Project is viewed every morning and planner time (school pre-exit) to prepare students for the long term planning. Expectations and schedules are also shared with parents so they can support their child's progress.
